Best Day Fitness
Best Day Fitness hopes you had a wonderful Thanksgiving with your family and friends! To celebrate the holidays, Physiology Fact Friday is presenting two articles for your holiday consumption.
The first article answers the question, "Have you ever wondered why that meal tasted so darn good!?"
Believe it or not, your sense of smell is what sets Thanksgiving dinner apart.
Most of us are aware of how smell influences our ability to taste.
Our mouth waters with the scent of cookies baking in the oven and quality wines are always snifted before tasted.
The Institute for Food Technologists explains in the attached article how similar flavor compounds found in Thanksgiving Day meals complement each other to produce that wonderful, satiable experience.
Now that we've enjoyed our little bout of gluttony, what can we do next!? Well exercise of course!
The American Journal of Clinical Exercise posted results conducted in the European Prospective Investigation into Cancer and Nutrition (EPIC) Study.
This study's results conjecture that a brisk 20-minute walk graduates an "inactive" individual into the "moderately inactive" category thereby reducing their risk for premature death between 16-30%.
No better way to spend Black Friday than going for a nice, brisk walk! Enjoy the fresh air!
